Oral Sedation

For some patients, anxiety can mean avoiding even minor dental treatment, allowing common oral health concerns to endanger their smiles. We understand that for these patients their anxiety can be so great that even common sedation techniques like nitrous oxide may not be enough. For a deeper alternative, we can provide oral sedation for patients with this type of severe dental anxiety.

A Deeper Form of Sedation

Patients will take a pill prior to treatment. We may suggest a light supper the night before, and for the patient to avoid food and drink within six to eight hours before treatment. With this type of sedation, patients enter a deep state of relaxation and will have little to no memory of the procedure. However, the patient will still be conscious the entire time. Arrangements should be made for a friend or family member to drive the patient home following the procedure.
